Artist Statement

Amberlee Cox is a multidisciplinary artist whose work focuses on good relationships that involve love and care. Whether it is from an innate instinct to connect with her ancestors’ needs to gather, or a desire for others to see nature’s beauty, she enjoys the process of discovering and showing in her work that there is some peace in the world. She uses traditional and found materials to layer her findings on how to create trust in good safe relationships. In her installations, Cox deepens her connections with nature by hunting and gathering her own materials from local fauna. It is one of her deepest desires to create an environment for others to feel at peace. By using found materials, she strives to let her audience connect with nature inside of buildings.

Bio

Amberlee Cox is from Mesa, Arizona. She received her Associate’s Degree in Art at Eastern Arizona College, and is currently attending Brigham Young University to receive a Bachelor in Art Administration with a minor in Psychology. Experimenting with acrylic paint and gathering nature’s bounty, Amberlee’s work focuses on the relationships she has with the people in her life and the beauty in her surroundings. Her work can be seen in paintings and installations. She will be showing her work in March 2025 in the Harold B. Lee Library in Provo, UT along with a fellow artist, Amy Chiu in an two-person exhibition.
